Tony Award winner Mary Tyler Moore will join the cast of the NBC series Lipstick Jungle next season in a recurring role, according to published reports.

The show, based on the novel by Candace Bushnell, follows the friendship of three professional women, played by Brooke Shields, Kim Raver, and Lindsday Price. Moore will play a retired high-powered executive and mother of Shields’ studio-head character, Wendy.

Moore has appeared twice on Broadway in Whose Life Is It Anyway? and Sweet Sue, and appeared out-of-town in the ill-fated musical Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

She is best known for her film and television work, including Ordinary People, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and The Dick Van Dyke Show.

In addition, for the past 10-years, she has co-hosted the annual Broadway Barks adopt-a-thon in Shubert Alley with good friend Bernadette Peters.
