London Spamalot Sets New Dates

The London production of Monty Python’s Spamalot, will now begin performances at the Palace Theatre on September 30, with tickets on sale through May 26. The show will open officially on October 17.

The show’s cast will include Tim Curry as King Arthur, Tom Goodman-Hill as Sir Lancelot, Robert Hands as Sir Robin, Hannah Waddingham as The Lady of the Lake, and David Birrell as Patsy. Simon Russell Beale, who played Arthur on Broadway after Curry, will take over the role in January 2007.

As on Broadway, Spamalot will be directed by Mike Nichols. It features a score by Eric Idle and John DuPrez, a book by Idle, choreographer by Casey Nicholaw, set and costume design by Tim Hatley, and lighting design by Hugh Vanstone. The Broadway production won three Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Director for Nichols; it was also named Best Musical by the Drama Desk and the Outer Critics Circle.
