Charles S. Dutton to Appear at From Sing Sing to Broadway Benefit

Charles S. Dutton will be the special guest at From Sing Sing to Broadway — An Evening Without Walls, a theatrical performance featuring formerly incarcerated men to take place at Playwrights Horizons (416 West 42nd Street) at 7:30pm on Monday, June 5. The event will benefit Rehabilitation Through the Arts, a program that provides theatrical training for inmates at Sing Sing and five other New York State correctional facilities.

Dutton, who served eight years behind bars before becoming an actor, is a two-time Tony Award nominee for the original production of Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and The Piano Lesson; he also starred in the 2003 revival of Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom opposite Whoopi Goldberg. His film and TV credits include Roc, The L Word, and Threshold.
