Sven Ratzke will make his U.S. debut in two performances of Weimar New York to be offered June 11-12 at the Abrons Arts Center. Joey Arias and Penny Arcade will host the performances.

Ratzke, a half Dutch / half German, Amsterdam and Berlin resident blends 1920’s Berlin cabaret with contemporary pop and jazz, telling theatrical tails through music and improvisation. The program will also feature John Kelly, Mike Albo, Adam Dugas,
Allota Boutte, and additional performers.

Weimar New York juxtaposes the aesthetic and music of Weimar-era Berlin with that of the contemporary downtown performance scene in New York City, celebrating the spirit of creative resistance that thrives in response to conservative political forces, be they the rising tides of Nazism in Weimar Germany or gun toting, Tea Party Patriots in the contemporary United States.
