Jessica Lange to Star in Big Valley Feature Film

Academy Award winner Jessica Lange will star in a feature version of the 1960s television series The Big Valley, according to a report in Variety. Daniel Adams has written the screenplay and will direct the movie, which will begin shooting in July.

Lange will play the matriarch of a wealthy ranching family in the 1870s. The role was originally played by Barbara Stanwyck.

Lange won Oscars for her performances in Tootsie and Blue Sky. Recently she won an for her Emmy Award for her portrayal of Edith Bouvier in HBO’s Grey Gardens. On stage ,she’s been seen in A Streetcar Named Desire and The Glass Menagerie on Broadway and in the West End.
