David Rockwell to Be Honored at Public Theatre Gala

Tony Award-nominated designer David Rockwell will be honored at the Public Theater’s 2008 Gala, on Tuesday, June 17, which marks the official opening night of the theater’s production of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet at the Delacorte Theatre in Central Park.

Rockwell is head of the Rockwell Group, one of the world’s leading architecture and design firms. He has designed the sets for Hairspray, Legally Blonde, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, All Shook Up, and The Rocky Horror Show, and will co-produce and design the upcoming Broadway musical Houdini.

Expected guests include Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin, Glenn Close, Cynthia Nixon, Kathleen Turner, Neil Patrick Harris, Jane Krakowski, Julianna Margulies, Nora Ephron, and S. Epatha Merkerson.

Directed by Oskar Eustis, Hamlet will feature Michael Stuhlbarg, Andre Braugher, Margaret Colin, Lauren Ambrose, David Harbour, Jay O. Sanders, and Sam Waterston.
