World Class

At the end of each season, the Theatre World Awards honor outstanding debut performances on and off Broadway. This year's ceremony, held yesterday afternoon at Studio 54 and hosted by TheaterMania's own Peter Filichia, celebrated a particularly strong group of artists. Here is past winner Bernadette Peters with John Willis, longtime editor of Theatre World.

(The up-and-coming Hugh Jackman, another 2004 Theatre World Award winner for his tour de force as the adult Peter Allen in the show, was unable to make it to the ceremony but sent a lovely, brief acceptance speech that was read by Keating.)
