AUDIO SHARE: Stream John Owen-Jones’ "Thunderball" from His Unmasked CD
In addition to the streaming track, a cover of Tom Jones’ hit “Thunderball,” the 12-track recording includes such songs as “This Is the Moment” (from Jekyll and Hyde), “All I Ask of You” and “The Music of the Night” (from The Phantom of the Opera), “Being Alive” (from Company), “Til I Hear You Sing” (from Love Never Dies), David Bowie’s “Nature Boy,” and Queen’s “Love of My Life.”
In discussing “Thunderball” and why he chose to include it on Unmasked, Owen-Jones said, “I’m an absolutely massive Tom Jones fan. He is a huge influence on me. I saw him in Vegas once — what an experience. The consummate vocalist and performer. An inspiration. I chose this as it’s a song that Tom rarely performs and I wanted to breathe new life into it. I’ve sung it in concert a few times and I love belting out that last note at the end!”
