Working Theater is set to present a reading of the poetry of US Poet Laureate Philip Levine, May 7 at 7 pm at the SEIU 32BJ building on the 5th floor.

Readers will include Pulitzer-Prize winning novelist Jeffrey Eugenides as well as performers André De Shields, Gene Gillette, and Lisa Ramirez. A reception with artists will follow the reading.

Philip Levine’s poetry explores the world of working people, with many of his poems set against the background of Detroit. In addition to being named Poet Laureate, Levine has also been honored with numerous awards including the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1995, the National Book Award for Poetry in both 1991 and 1980, and the Ruth Lilly Poetry Prize from the Modern Poetry Association and the American Council for the Arts.
