Gail Merrifield Papp, along with Time Warner Inc., will be honored at the Public Theater’s annual gala to be held on Monday, June 20 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Both are being recognized for their ongoing commit to and support of the organization.

Papp, widow of the theater’s founder Joseph Papp, served as the theater’s literary manager from 1965 to 1991. During that period, she helped guide such works as Cuba and His Teddy Bear, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and The Normal Heart to the stage. She has served as board member of the theater since 1991.

The event will include an al fresco dinner, a performance of All’s Well That Ends Well, and a cast party immediately following the performance.

As previously announced, the 2011 season of Shakespeare in the Park will include both All’s Well That Ends Well, directed by Daniel Sullivan, and Measure for Measure, directed by David Esbjornson. Both production will run in repertory June 6 – July 30.
