Playwright Athol Fugard and Shubert Organization chairman Philip J. Smith will receive Lifetime Achievement Awards at the 2011 Tony Awards, which will be presented at The Beacon Theatre Sunday, June 12 and broadcast on CBS.

In addition, playwright, performer and V-Day founder and artistic director Eve Ensler will receive the Isabelle Stevenson Award, which recognizes an individual from the theater community who has made a substantial contribution of volunteered time and effort on behalf of one or more humanitarian, social service or charitable organizations, regardless of whether such organizations relate to the theater.

This year’s Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre, which are awarded annually to institutions, individuals and/or organizations that have demonstrated extraordinary achievement in theater, but are not eligible in any of the established Tony Award categories, will be presented to animal trainer Bill Berloni, The Drama Book Shop, and Sharon Jensen and Alliance for Inclusion in the Arts, which works to achieve a theater, film and television industry that reflects American society.

As previously reported, the Tony Award nominations will be announced on May 3 in an event to be held at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center at Lincoln Center.
