ABC Cancels All My Children and One Life to Live

ABC’s daytime dramas All My Children and One Life to Live will air their final episodes in September 2011 and January 2012, respectively.


All My Children, which debuted on the network in January 5, 1970, centers on the lives of the residents of fictional Pine Valley. Among the stage veterans who currently appear on the show are Susan Lucci, who has played the role of Erica Kane since the show’s inception, as well as Ricky Paull Goldin, Michael T. Knight, Cameron Mathison, Darnell Williams, and Jacob Young.

One Life to Live, which first aired on July 15, 1968, is set in the fictional town of Llanview. The show’s current cast includes numerous stage veterans, including Peter Bartlett, Brian Kerwin, Ilene Kristen, Florencia Lozano, Robin Strasser, Tuc Watkins, Bree Williamson, Kim Zimmer, and Tony Award winner Patricia Elliott.


The daytime dramas will be replaced with two new shows focusing on health and lifestyle issues. After both shows cancellation, the network will have only one remaining daytime drama, General Hospital.
