Music by Gabriel Kahane, Harold Meltzer, et al. Featured in NYFOS Concerts

Music by Gabriel Kahane and Harold Meltzer will be featured in in the New York Festival Of Song’s upcoming The Newest Deal concerts, to be held on May 4 and May 6 at 8pm at the Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufman Center. Steven Blier and Michael Barrett will serve as hosts and pianists, and the concerts will feature tenor Paul Appleby, soprano Anne-Carolyn Bird, and baritone Andrew Garland.

Appleby will perform the world premiere of Meltzer’s Beautiful Ohio, a song cycle that uses the texts of poet of James Arlington Wright, which has been written specifically for the singer.

The performance will also feature selections from Kahane’s Craigslistlieder, as well as music by Lisa Bielawa, Tom Cipullo, Gabriela Frank, Phil Kline, Raymond Lustig, and Russell Platt.
