The musical 13, by Jason Robert Brown, Dan Elish and Robert Horn, is expected to open on Broadway early this fall, according to industry sources.

The show, which debuted last year in Los Angeles, will have a developmental production at Goodspeed’s Norma Terris Theatre in Chester, Connecticut May 9-June 13. It will be directed by Jeremy Sams, with choreography by Christopher Gattelli.

The show takes place in a middle school in Indiana with a group of students who are sorting through the barrage of contradictory messages thrown their way. One student, Evan, is in a particular quandary: he’s the newcomer and needs to figure out a way to get all the cool kids to his bar mitzvah.

The cast and band for the Goodman production will feature Graham Philips and Hudson Thames (rotating performances as Evan Goldman), Aaron Simon Gross (Archie), Allie Trim (Patrice), Eric Nelson (Brett), Elizabeth Gillies (Lucy), Ashton Smalling (Kendra), Ariana Grande (Charlotte), Caitlin Gann (Molly), Taylor Bright (Cassie), Eamon Foley (Steve),
Joey La Varco (Bill), Kyle Crews (Malcolm), Alberto Calderon (Eddie), Adam Kaufman (Keyboard II), Chris Raymond (Guitar), Zach Page (Guitar), Zachary Coe (Percussion), and Lexi Bodick (Bass). The show will feature sets and costumes by David Farley, lighting by Brian MacDevitt, and music direction by Tom Kitt.
