Brochtrup, Eiden, Lotorto, Mahaffy, Nagle, Potter Set for SCR’s Taking Steps

Bill Brochtrup, Emily Eiden, Louis Lotorto, Kasey Mahaffy, Rob Nagle, and Kirsten Potter will star in South Coast Repertory’s production of Alan Ayckbourn’s farce Taking Steps, May 16-June 15. The production, which will open officially on May 24, will be directed by Art Manke.
The play takes place in a reputedly haunted Victorian house where a sale is about to be completed, depending upon which door opens next and what’s going on behind it. Hilarious complications ensue as men and women, attached and unattached, emerge from bedrooms above, mid-level and below, and along a very crowded hallway.
The creative team includes Ralph Funicello (set design), Angela Balogh Calin (costume design), and Geoff Korf (lighting design). Manke, a five-time winner of the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award, has directed Bach at Leipzig, The Wind in the Willows, and The Constant Wife, among other plays.
