Spring Awakening Will Hold Open Audition...

My Idol

Fantasia Barrino, the new star of The Color Purple, is welcomed to Broadway, while Sir David Frost, Sarah Ferguson, Hugh Dancy and Claire Danes, Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts, et al. celebrate the opening of Frost/Nixon.








Broadway's newest superstar is here! Former American Idol champion Fantasia Barrino (right), who is now playing Celie in the musical The Color Purple, was feted at a party on Sunday evening at the new Times Square club Spotlight Live. She was joined at the celebration by newscaster Gayle King, best pal of Color Purple producer Oprah Winfrey.

















Other guests at the party included Renée Elise Goldsberry, The Color Purple's original Nettie and a 2007 Daytime Emmy Award nominee for her role of Evangeline Williamson on ABC's One Life to Live...



















...and the popular recording artists/hit songwriters Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson.



















Sunday also marked the opening of Broadway's newest hit play, Frost/Nixon. Here's Tony Award winner Frank Langella, who gives an amazing performance as former president Richard M. Nixon...



















...and the extraordinary Michael Sheen, who plays talk show host David Frost.

Veteran CBS newsman Mike Wallace, who is actually a character in Frost/Nixon (played on videotape by Stephen Rowe), was one of the many luminaries who attended the show on opening night.



















Also on hand were a pair of red-hot couples: Journey's End leading man Hugh Dancy and the beautiful Claire Danes...



















...and Talk Radio star Liev Schreiber with mother-to-be Naomi Watts.




















Here's a couple of hot-looking guys: Grease finalist Austin Miller and Drowsy Chaperone star Troy Britton Johnson.



















Among the night's other notables were the very busy Frances Fisher, who's scheduled to appear in four films this year, including The Kingdom with Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Garner...



















...Barbara Walters, co-host of the award-winning ABC talk show The View...




















...the wonderful actress Jessica Walter (right) with her daughter, Brooke Leibman...





















...the beautiful Kim Cattrall, who's been spending much of her time lately acting on the British stage...
