The Barbican Centre will present A Disappearing Number, a new piece by the acclaimed theater group Complicite, September 5-October 5. This is part of a series of 25 landmark events chosen to epitomize the artistic vision of the Barbican Centre as part of its 25th birthday celebration this year. The show will play other international dates before arriving in London.

Conceived and directed by Complicite co-founder and artistic director Simon McBurney, the piece takes as its starting point the story of the collaboration between 20th-century mathematicians Scrinivasa Ramanujan, a poor Brahmin from southern India, and Cambridge don GH Hardy. It features original music by pioneering composer Nitin Sawhney.

In addition to McBurney, the cast includes David Annen, Firdous Bamji, Paul Bhattacharjee, Hiren Chate, Divya Kasturi, Chetna Pandya, Shane Shambhu, and Saskia Reeves.
