The musicals Caraboo, Princess of Javasu, The ’60s Project, and Meet John Doe will be presented at Goodspeed Musicals’ Norma Terris Theatre in Chester, Connecticut this year.

Caraboo will be presented as a staged reading, May 19-21 and May 26-28. Featuring a score by Jenny Giering and Beth Blatt, a book by Pulitzer Prize winner Marsha Norman, and direction by Gary Griffin, the show tells the true story of a 19th-century girl named Mary Baker, who transformed herself from a British maid to an exotic princess.

The ’60 Project, which will run August 10-September 3, uses some of the most popular songs of that decade to help tell the story of a group of young friends who are fighting to make a difference in the world. Conceived by Janet Brenner and co-written by Brenner and Levine, the show will be choreographed by Lisa Shriver and directed by Richard Maltby, Jr.

Meet John Doe, which will run November 9-December 3, is a musicalization of the famed Frank Capra film about a Depression-era reporter who pumps life into a dying newspaper by creating a hoax about a man who threatens to jump off the Brooklyn Bridge. Written by Andrew Gerle and Eddie Sugarman (additional story by Matt August), the show will be directed by Eric Schaeffer.
