Works by Noah Haidle, David Rabe, Theresa Rebeck, August Wilson and a revival of Anton Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard starring Kate Burton as Madame Ranevskya will be presented as part of the Huntington Theatre’s 2005-2006 season.

The season at the Boston University Theatre opens with the national tour of Wilson’s last play Radio Golf (September 8-October 8), directed by Kenny Leon. It will be followed by The Cherry Orchard, which will be directed by the company’s artistic director, Nicholas Martin (opens January 5), and a revival of Rabe’s landmark Vietnam war play Streamers, which will be directed by Scott Ellis (May 18-June 17).

At the smaller Calderwood Pavilion, the Huntington will present the world premiere of Rebeck’s new play Mauritius, about the discovery of priceless stamps that pulls apart two sisters, to be directed by Rebecca Bayla Taichman (October 6-November 12). Up next will be the world premiere of Haidle’s new play Persephone, about an Italian Renaissance statue burdened by unrequited love for her sculptor and her inability to turn a blind eye to five centuries of human misery (March 30-May 6).

Two more plays to complete the season will be named shortly. For more information, call 617-266-0800 or visit www.huntingtontheatre.org.
