TheaterMania Sponsors Contest for Drama Desk Trophy Chaperones

TheaterMania is sponsoring a contest to be one of four Drama Desk Trophy Chaperones — two men and two women — who will appear on stage with the theater community’s elite at the 56th Annual Drama Desk Awards Ceremony which will be held on Monday, May 23, in the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan. As previously reported, Harvey Fierstein, writer and co-star of Broadway’s hit musical La Cage Aux Folles, will be the awards ceremony’s host.

The four winners will each receive hotel accommodations at a top rated hotel in the heart of Times Square, although the prize package does not include airfare and transportation. Wardrobe, hair and make-up will be provided by some of the top names in the industry. Winners will also be invited to attend the VIP After Party where they will network with Hollywood and Broadway’s elite and possibly further their dreams of a show business career.

Anyone who has a theatrical background, elegance and talent and wants to be a Drama Desk Trophy Chaperone can enter the competition. In April, a panel of theater and industry professionals will select those four winners from a list of 10 finalists.
