James Levine: 40 Years at the Metropolitan Opera to Be Published on May 3

James Levine: 40 Years at The Metropolitan Opera, an insider’s view of the legendary conductor’s career, will be published by Amadeus Press on May 3.


The book, which will include many historic photographs, essays, and personal recollections, will go behind the scenes of Levine’s four-decade career.

Contributors to the book include singers Martina Arroyo, Stephanie Blythe, Natalie Dessay, Placido Domingo, Renée Fleming, Mirella Freni, Marilyn Horne, Sherrill Milnes, James Morris, Jessye Norman, René Pape, Renata Scotto, Teresa Stratas, and Frederica von Stade; conductors Daniel Barenboim and Pierre Boulez; directors Franco Zeffirelli and Otto Schenk; Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Martin Bernheimer, music historian Harvey Sachs, former Boston Globe critic Richard Dyer, and Ara Guzelimian, Provost and Dean of The Juilliard School.
