Roundabout to Hold Glass Menagerie Video Contest for NYC Public School Students

The Roundabout Theatre Company, in association with Long Wharf Theatre, has announced a video contest open to New York city public schools, in conjunction with the theater company’s current production of The Glass Menagerie, at the Laura Pels Theatre.

Students are invited to create a 2-5 minute video of a scene from The Glass Menagerie, which may take the form of a dramatic reading, an acted scene or a creative interpretation. Submissions must be uploaded to the entrant’s own YouTube or Vimeo.com account, and the link should be sent to glasscontest@roundabouttheatre.org along with the school’s name and address; teacher’s name, contact phone number, and e-mail; class title and number of students in the class; names of students in the video; and what act/scene number the video is portraying.

The Grand Prize is a class field trip to see the Roundabout’s The Glass Menagerie, a backstage tour and a 2-hour pre-show workshop led by a Roundabout teaching artist at the theatre. There will also be five runner-up prizes, featuring a show poster autographed by the cast, and the video entry submissions will also be posted on the Roundabout website.
