Brian F. O’Byrne and Evan Rachel Wood are set to co-star with Kate Winslet in an HBO remake of the classic film Mildred Pierce, according to a report on TVGuide.com. Todd Haynes will direct the five-part miniseries.

Based on the James M. Cain novel, Mildred Pierce focuses on a proud mother (Winslet) fighting for the love of her daughter (Wood) during the Depression. The project will also feature Melissa Leo and Guy Pearce.

O’Byrne won a Tony Award for his performance in Frozen. Among his other Broadway credits are Doubt, Shining City, The Coast of Utopia, The Lonesome West, and The Beauty Queen of Leenane. He currently is featured on the ABC series FlashForward.

Wood, as previously announced, recently withdrew from playing the part of Mary Jane Watson in the forthcoming Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. Her theater credits include work with Theatre In The Park in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she played Juliet in Romeo and Juliet last year.
