Ben Vereen to Host Jazz at Lincoln Center’s The Music of Fats Waller

Tony Award-winning actor, singer and dancer Ben Vereen will host and perform in The Music of Fats Waller, to be presented by Jazz at Lincoln Center at the Rose Theater, April 16 and 17 at 8pm. Andy Farber will serve as musical director.

The evening will pay tribute to Waller’s music, including such favorites as “Ain’t Misbehavin’,” “Alligator Crawl,” and “Honeysuckle Rose.” Musicians and performers will also include pianist Ehud Asherie, bassist Ben Wolfe, guitarist Doug Wamble, drummer Alvester Garnett, saxophonist Andy Farber, clarinetist and saxophonist Dan Block, vocalists Carla Cook and and Allan Harris, and trumpeter Jon-Erik Kellso.

Farber will also participate in a pre-concert discussion, with JALC’s Ken Druker, on the Fats Waller story and songbook, featuring insight into the evening’s musical selections.
