Barbara Carroll’s Something To Live For: Live at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola CD to Be Released April 27

Jazz pianist, composer and vocalist Barbara Carroll’s newest CD, Something To Live For: Live at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola will be released by Harbinger Records, digitally and in stores, on April 27. Todd Barkan has produced the album.

The disc captures a performance that Carroll gave at Dizzy’s, a nightclub overlooking Manhattan, and on it Carroll delivers a host of songs from the world of musical theater, including “All I Need Is The Girl” from Gypsy and “Lonely Town” from On The Town. Also included are songs from the world of film (“How About You?” from Babes on Broadway) and songs by her late colleagues Dizzy Gillespie (“A Night In Tunisia”) and Cy Coleman (“I Wanna Be Yours”). Carroll also pays tribute to Duke Ellington on the disc and five tracks are dedicated to his songs, including “In A Sentimental Mood” and “Mood Indigo.”

In addition to Carroll on piano and vocals, the CD features Jay Leonhart on bass and Alvin Atkinson on drums.

Carroll can currently be seen offering Sunday Brunch concerts at the Algonquin Hotel’s Oak Room through June 20.
