Alec Baldwin, John Lithgow to Host TCM Film Showcases

Alec Baldwin will co-host the Turner Classic Movies showcase The Essentials, while John Lithgow will host the family-film version of the showcase, The Essentials Jr., according to Variety. Baldwin will join TCM’s Robert Osborne for the program, in which the hosts talk about classic films and their influence.

Baldwin received a Tony Award nomination for A Streetcar Named Desire and a Theatre World Award for Loot. His other New York stage credits include Twentieth Century, Prelude to a Kiss, Serious Money, and Entertaining Mr. Sloane. He currently stars on NBC’s 30 Rock, for which he has won the Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG Awards.

Lithgow won Tony Awards for The Sweet Smell of Success and The Changing Room. He was also Tony-nominated for his performances in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, M. Butterfly, and Requiem for a Heavyweight and most recently appeared on Broadway in All My Sons earlier this season. Lithgow is well known for his starring role in the TV series Third Rock from the Sun, for which he received a Golden Globe, two SAG awards, and The American Comedy Award.
