Rent Extends Through September 7

The long-running musical Rent, which had previously announced a closing date of June 1, has extended until September 7.
Casting for the extension has not been announced.

Loosely based on the opera La Boheme, the show was written by Jonathan Larson, who died suddenly before its official opening at New York Theatre Workshop in the winter of 1996. The show would go on to win the Pulitzer Prize, and the Tony and Drama Desk Awards for Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, and Best Score, among numerous other honors.

Patrons who purchased tickets for the previously announced final week (May 26-June 1), can exchange their tickets for performances during the extension period, subject to availability, by taking their tickets to the Nederlander Theatre box office (208 West 41st Street) during regular box office hours or calling the box office mail room at 212-921-8000. In addition, the limited amount of fans who have purchased tickets to the previously announced final performance on June 1 may exchange into the final performance on Sunday, September 7, subject to some restrictions.
