Junkyard Dog Productions (Randy Adams and Sue Frost) and Larry Hirschhorn have announced that their planned New York premiere production of the revue Make Me a Song: The Music of William Finn has been postponed until the 2007-2008 theater season.

Conceived and directed by Rob Ruggiero, the revue had its world premiere in August 2006 at TheaterWorks in Hartford, Connecticut. It had been scheduled to begin previews on April 6 and to open on April 19 at The Zipper Theatre in New York. The producers gave “scheduling conflicts” as the reason for the postponement but, in a separate communication received earlier today, Ruggiero informed the press that he is on an extended leave from his position of associate artistic director of TheaterWorks due to unexpected surgery.

Finn is a two-time Tony Award winner for the book and score of the musical Falsettos; he is currently represented on Broadway by The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at Circle in the Square. Make Me a Song features selections from these shows as well as songs from Romance in Hard Times, Elegies, and the yet to be produced The Royal Family.
