Bebe Neuwirth and Eric Bogosian to Host Lucille Lortel Awards

Bebe Neuwirth and Eric Bogosian will host the 22nd annual Lucille Lortel Awards, honoring the best of Off-Broadway, on Monday, May 7 at New World Stages. Nominations for the awards will be announced on April 3.

During the ceremony, The Actors’ Fund of America will be presented with a special award in honor of 125 years of service. In addition, Christopher Durang will be honored with a star on the Playwright’s Sidewalk outside the Lucille Lortel Theatre on Christopher Street. Durang’s most recent work, the musical Adrift in Macao, closed last weekend at Primary Stages and is being recorded.

Neuwirth is currently starring as Roxie Hart in the Broadway revival of Chicago; she won a Tony Award for her portrayal of Velma Kelly in that production, and another Tony for her performance as Nickie in the 1986 revival of Sweet Charity. Bogosian is the author of such plays as Talk Radio ( a new productin of which opens officially on Sunday at Broadway’s Longacre Theatre), subUrbia, and Pounding Nails in the Floor With My Forehead.
