Tickets are now on sale to the public for Kinky Boots, which features tunes by Grammy Award winner Cyndi Lauper and a book by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage Aux Folles). Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell (Legally Blonde) directs and choreographs the musical, which begins previews on March 3, with an April 4 opening. You can buy tickets at the Al Hirschfeld Theater‘s box office (or you just can buy tickets online).

Tony Award nominee Stark Sands (American Idiot) and Billy Porter (Angels in America) lead the company as Charlie and Lola. Annaleigh Ashford (Wicked) plays Lauren, a love interest for Charlie.

The musical is based on the 2005 British film of the same name and follows Charlie Price (Sands), who suddenly inherits his father’s failing shoe factory. Trying to live up to his father’s legacy and save the factory, Charlie finds inspiration in the form of a drag queen named Lola. Lola turns out to be the one person who can help Charlie become the man he’s meant to be. As they work to turn the factory around, this unlikely pair finds that they have more in common than they ever dreamed possible.

The cast also includes Celina Carvajal (Nicola), Daniel Stewart Sherman (Don), Marcus Neville (George), Paul Canaan (Angel/Ensemble/Asst. Dance Captain), Kevin Smith Kirkwood (Angel/Ensemble), Kyle Taylor Parker (Angel/Ensemble), Kyle Post (Angel/Ensemble), Charlie Sutton (Angel/Ensemble), Joey Taranto (Angel), Andy Kelso (Harry/Ensemble), Tory Ross (Pat/Ensemble), Jennifer Perry (Trish/Ensemble), Adinah Alexander Mrs. Cobb/SM/Ensemble), Eric Anderson (Ensemble), Eugene Barry-Hill (Simon Sr./Ensemble), Stephen Berger (Mr. Price/Ensemble), Caroline Bowman (Ensemble), Sandra DeNise (Swing), Eric Leviton (Ensemble), Ellyn Marie Marsh (Ensemble), John Jeffrey Martin (Richard Bailey/Ensemble), Nathan Peck (Dance Captain/Swing), Robert Pendilla (Swing), Lucia Spina (Swing), and Sebastian Hedges Thomas (Young Charlie Standby).

The creative team includes scenic design by Tony Award nominee David Rockwell (Hairspray), costume design by Tony Award winner Gregg Barnes (Follies), lighting design by Tony Award winner Kenneth Posner (The Coast of Utopia), John Shivers (sound design), Josh Marquette (hair design), and Randy Houston Mercer (make-up design), with musical supervision, arrangements and orchestrations by Tony Award winner Stephen Oremus (The Book of Mormon).

Kinky Boots had an out of town tryout at Chicago’s Bank of America Theater last fall.
