Plácido Domingo, Renée Fleming, Susan Graham Set for LA Opera Season

LA Opera has announced the lineup for its upcoming 2012-2013 season.
The season will open on September 15 with Giuseppe Verdi’s The Two Foscari, conducted by James Conlon and directed by Thaddeus Strassberger. Plácido Domingo will star as Francesco Foscari, with the cast also featuring Francesco Meli and Marina Poplavskaya.
Mozart’s Don Giovanni will have performances conducted by both Conlon and Domingo and be directed by Peter Stein. Ildebrando D’Arcangelo will play the title role, joined by Soile Isokoski, Julianna Di Giacomo, Angela Meade, Micaëla Oeste, Andrej Dunaev, David Bizic, Roxana Constantinescu, Ievgen Orlov and Joshua Bloom.
Oksana Dyka will star alongside Brandon Jovanovich and Eric Owens in Giacomo Puccini’s Madame Butterfly, directed by Ron Daniels, and conducted by Grant Gershon. The production feature period Japanese sets and costumes by Tony Award-winning designer Michael Yeargan.
Tómas Tómasson will star in the title role of Richard Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman, . directed by Nikolaus Lehnhoff, and conducted by Conlon. The cast will also feature Elisabete Matos as Senta and Jay Hunter Morris as Erik.
Kate Lindsey and Ketevan Kemoklidze will share the title role in Gioachino Rossini’s Cinderella (La Cenerentola), directed by Joan Font and conducted by Conlon. René Barbera will play Prince Ramiro, with Alessandro Corbelli as Cinderella’s father, Don Magnifico.
The season will close with Puccini’s Tosca, starring Sondra Radvanovsky, along with Marco Berti and Lado Ataneli. John Caird will direct, with performances conducted by Domingo.
In addition, the season will also include a special joint recital, presented in collaboration with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, featuring soprano Renée Fleming and mezzo-soprano Susan Graham. The recital will take place on January 19, 2013, at Walt Disney Concert Hall.
