New York Pops Music Director Steven Reineke will conduct the world premiere of his new piece for concert band as part of the The Lesbian & Gay Big Apple Corps (LGBAC) Symphonic Band’s concert, Once Upon a Musical Time, at Peter Norton Symphony Space, on Saturday, April 30 at 8pm.

Reineke will also join LGBAC’s artistic director Brian Worsdale for a special pre-concert discussion at 7:15pm hosted by NY1 Producer Frank DiLella. Reineke’s piece, inspired by the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, is currently untitled.

Another highlight of the concert will be Tubby the Tuba, showcasing world renowned tubist Marcus Rojas, as well as Broadway veteran Tituss Burgess, who will narrate the tale of a tuba searching for a song of his own.

The band will also perform music taken from the stories of The Lord of the Rings, Sweeney Todd, and Casey at the Bat, among others. WNBC Channel 4 New York Meteorologist Raphael Miranda will serve as host for the evening.
