Jon Cassar directed the project, which features a screenplay by Steve Kronish. The cast for the miniseries also featured Barry Pepper as Robert Kennedy and Tom Wilkinson as Joe Kennedy Sr.

The miniseries was produced by The History Channel, which later declined to air it. A number of other channels, including Showtime, declined to air the film as well.

Holmes made her Broadway debut in All My Sons. Among her many film credits are Batman Begins and The Ice Storm.
