Jill Furman Wins the Commercial Theater Institute’s Robert Whitehead Award

Jill Furman has won the The Commercial Theater Institute’s Robert Whitehead Award. Lin-Manuel Miranda will present the honor, which recognizes outstanding achievement in commercial theatre producing, in a ceremony to be held on March 15 at The Glass House Tavern.

Furman was co-lead producer of In the Heights and is currently producing the National Tour of the Tony Award-winning musical. Among her other Broadway credits are co-producing West Side Story and The Drowsy Chaperone, and serving as associate producer on Sly Fox and Fortune’s Fool. In addition, she is currently co-producing the hip-hop comedy group Freestyle Love Supreme, and will soon shoot a television pilot with the group for a cable network.

The Commerical Theater Institute is a joint project of The Broadway League and Theatre Development Fund, dedicated to professionally training commercial theatre producers.
