The work is based on poet Langston Hughes' 1961 cycle Ask Your Mama: 12 Moods for Jazz. It is part of the Honor! A Celebration of the African American Cultural Legacy festival, which is being curated by Norman in March.
The creative team for the production includes David Korins (scenic consultant), Rico Gatson (visual design), Kate Howard (video design), and Leslie Ann Jones (sound design).
