Adam Pascal on Medical Leave; Cary Shields to Play Roger in Detroit Engagement of Rent

The Producers of the national tour of Rent have announced that Adam Pascal has suffered a herniated disc, and is currently on medical leave. The part of Roger will instead be played by Cary Shields during the Detroit engagement of the tour, which runs through February 22.

The cast also features Anthony Rapp as Mark, along with Nicolette Hart as Maureen, Justin Johnston as Angel, Lexi Lawson as Mimi, Michael McElroy as Tom Collins, Gwen Stewart as the “Seasons of Love” soloist, Jacques C. Smith as Benjamin Coffin III, and Haneefah Wood as Joanne Jefferson. The ensemble is rounded out by Karmine Alers, Toby Blackwell, Adam Halpin, Trisha Jeffrey, Telly Leung, Caren Lyn Manuel, Jed Resnick, Andy Senor, Yuka Takara, and John Watson.

Shields previously portrayed Roger on Broadway, and additional credits include Taboo on Broadway and the national tour of Falsettos.
