Real-life married couple Matt Bogart and Jessica Boevers will star in the Paper Mill Playhouse production of Romance/Romance. The show, to be directed by Mark S. Hoebee, will play February 28-April 1 and will open officially on March 4.

Written by Barry Harman and Keith Herrmann, Romance/Romance is actually a pair of one act musicals. The first one, based on Arthur Schnitzler’s The Little Comedy, concerns two society folk who set out to find meaningful relationships by posing as paupers; the second, “Summer Share,” is an update of Jules Renard’s play Pain de Ménage, about two friends who consider having an affair with each other.

The 1988 Broadway production of Romance/Romance received five Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Book, and Best Lead Actor and Actress noms for Scott Bakula and Alison Fraser.

The Paper Mill production will also feature Danette Holden and Mark Ledbetter. The creative team includes Wendy Sybb (choreography), John O’Neill (musical direction), David Zinn (sets and costumes), Jeff Croiter (lighting), and Randy Hansen (sound).

Bogart has appeared on Broadway in such shows as Aida, The Civil War, Miss Saigon, and Smokey Joe’s Cafe, and he starred in the Paper Mill productions of Camelot and Carousel. Boevers’ Broadway credits include In My Life, Oklahoma!, and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Last year, the couple starred together in the musical Ace in St. Louis and Cincinnati.
