Composer Michael John LaChiusa and actors Peter Gerety and Mary Beth Peil will be among the participants in Week 14 of Susan-Lori Parks’ 365 Days/365 Plays. Performances will be held at Joe’s Pub on Friday, February 16 at 11:30pm and Saturday, February 17 at noon. Admission is free, but there is a $12-per-person food/drink minimum.

In 2002, Pulitzer Prize-winner Parks set out to write a play a day for an entire year. Those works are now receiving simultaneous world premieres by artists in 16 cities and regions across the U.S. and Canada, including New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, Washington D.C., Boston, and San Francisco. More than 600 arts organizations are participating.

Week 14’s performances in New York City will be presented by the Drama League’s Directors Project. The plays include a fantasia about the birth of Abraham Lincoln; an absurdist, gun-shadowed romance; a Billie Holliday-style blues singer’s tribute to a pig farmer; and a Presidents Day sale unlike any other.

Directors for the Joe’s Pub performances include Sam Gold, Matthew Earnest, Daniela Varon, Rebecca Holderness, Andrew Volkoff, Pirronne Yousefzadeh, Allison Eve Zell, and Michael Goldfried. In addition to Gerety and Peil, the acting company will include Twinkle Burke, Carman Lacivita, Sue Jean Kim, Kelly McAndrew, Brian Nishii, and Alex Webb. The program will also feature an original song with lyrics by Parks and music by Michael John LaChiusa.
