Full Cast, Creative Team Set for Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

Full casting and creative team have been announced for the newly reworked production of the musical Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, which will play March 13-25 at Theatre Under the Stars in Houston, before moving on to subsequent productions at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Milburn, New Jersey, April 11-May 13, and the North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly, Massachusetts, May 29-June 17. The show will be directed by Scott Schwartz, with choreography by Patti Colombo and music direction by Tom Helm.

Based on The Sobbin’ Women by Stephen Vincent Benet and the 1954 MGM film, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, the show has music by Gene de Paul, lyrics by Johnny Mercer, and a book by Lawrence Kasha and David S. Landay. In addition, Kasha and Joel Hirschhorn have created new songs for this production with music by Saul Chaplin.

Set in 1850’s Oregon territory, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers tells the story of Adam, the eldest of seven brothers, who goes to town to get a wife and convinces a young woman named Milly to marry him that same day. They return to his backwoods home, only for Milly to discover that all six of Adam’s brothers also live in the log cabin. She sets out to reform the uncouth siblings, who are anxious to get wives of their own. Then, Adam develops an inspired solution to his brothers’ loneliness — kidnap the women they want.

The cast will feature Edward Watts (Adam), Michelle Dawson (Milly), Luke Longacre (Caleb), Travis Kelley (Ephraim), Karl Warden (Daniel), Randy Bobish (Benjamin), Eric Sciotto (Frank), Christian Delcroix (Gideon), Kate Marilley (Ruth), Christina Hedrick (Dorcas), Stephanie Fittro (Sarah), Denise Payne (Liza), Margot deLa Barre (Martha), and Sarah Marie Jenkins (Alice).

The ensemble includes Jason Babinsky, Becky Barta, Ryan Christopher Chotto, Cameron Henderson, Nathan Hershberger, Andy Paterson, Benjie Randall, Luke Rawlings, Shane Rhoades, Dan Sharkey, Tina Stafford, Tiffany Sudol, and Nick Sullivan.

The creative team will include Anna Luoizos (sets), Jess Goldstein (costumes), Donald Holder (lighting), and Christopher “Kit” Bond (sound). Schwartz’s many directorial credits include Golda’s Balcony, The Foreigner, and Bat Boy: The Musical.
