Cirque du Soleil’s newest show, tentatively titled Cirque 2007, will debut in Montreal on the Quays of the Old Port on May 3. The show will then move to Quebec City’s Les Galeries de la Capitale on July 5 and Toronto’s Port Lands on August 9.

The show will be created and directed by David Shiner, who performed as a clown in Cirque du Soleil’s Nouvelle Experience in 1990. He co-starred and co-created the Tony Award-winning Broadway show Fool Moon and played the Cat in the Hat in the Broadway musical Seussical. Shiner began his performing career as a street mime in Paris, and has since performed with such renowned international companies as Cirque de Demain, Circus Roncalli, and Circus Knie.

The creative team for Cirque 2007 will also include Serge Roy (director of creation), Stéphane Roy (sets), Marie-Chantale Vaillancourt (costumes), Martin Labrecque (lighting), Jonathan Deans and Leon Rothenberg (sound), and Jean-Francois Coté (music composition).
