Plays by Kathleen Clark, Christopher Durang, A.R. Gurney, and Terrence McNally will be presented by Primary Stages during the company’s 2006-2007 season, which will begin in July.

First up in the season will be the world premiere of Gurney’s Indian Blood, about a young man who uses his Indian ancestry as justification for his adolescent attacks on the genteel world around him. Directed by Mark Lamos, the production will run July 25-September 3. It will be followed by the New York premiere of Kathleen Clark’s Southern Comforts, a romantic comedy to star real-life spouses Dixie Carter and Hal Holbrook. Leonard Foglia will helm the show, which will run October 3-November 19.

Another New York premiere production will be Christopher Durang and Peter Melnick’s musical comedy Adrift in Macao, a take-off on Casablanca. The show was seen earlier this season at the Philadelphia Theatre Company. Directed by Sheryl Kaller and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli, the Primary Stages production will run January 3-March 4, 2007. The season will conclude with the world premiere of McNally’s Deuce, starring Tony Award winner Marian Seldes, April 3-May 6, 2007. No director has yet been announced. (Earlier this season, Seldes starred in McNally’s Dedication, or the Stuff of Dreams at Primary Stages.)
