A new revue of Stephen Sondheim songs that was first presented at the Bridewell Theatre in London in 2000 and was later seen at California’s Laguna Beach Playhouse will be performed in a concert version at Carnegie Hall’s new Zankel Hall from September 30 through October 10. The revue’s new title is Opening Doors; further details are yet to be announced.

Originally titled Moving On: A Celebration of the Work of Stephen Sondheim, the revue was conceived by British actor-director David Kernan and John Kane as a tribute to Sondheim for his 70th birthday. (Kernan also created and co-starred in Side by Side by Sondheim, an earlier revue of Sondheim’s songs.) Moving On was first produced in July 2000 at the Bridewell, which presented the 1997 world premiere production of Sondheim’s Saturday Night. The show contains 41 songs (performed in full or in part) drawn from 14 musicals, four films, and one television play; it also includes audio excerpts from a 40-minute interview that the show’s creators conducted with Sondheim.

Opening Doors has musical arrangements by Jason Carr. The Laguna production of Moving On starred Teri Ralston, Ann Morrison, David Engel, Christopher Carothers, and Tami Tappan, but casting for the New York concerts is not set.
