Hit the Wall Heads to the Barrow Street

On June 28, 1969, a routine police raid of an underground gay bar became a full scale riot. Ike Holter's new play Hit the Wall tells the story of the protests and demonstrations that became the legendary Stonewall Riots. The play, which was developed at Steppenwolf in Chicago, will move to Barrow Street Theater, only steps away from Stonewall Inn. The production will be directed by Eric Hoff and begin performances February 19, opening March 10. Holter's play combines a contemporary perspective with the history of the riots.

The ensemble of Hit the Wall will feature Nick Bailey, Jessica Dickey, Ben Diskant, Nathan Lee Graham, Matthew Greer, Gregory Haney, Sean Allan Krill, Rania Salem Manganaro, Ray Rizzo, Carolyn Michelle Smith, Arturo Soria and Indigo Street.

The creative team includes original music and music supervision by Dan Lipton (Prometheus Bound). The team also includes Lauren Helpern (Set), David Hyman (Costumes), Keith Parham (Lighting), Daniel Kluger and Brandon Wolcott (Sound), J. David Brimmer (Fight Director), and Pat McCorkle (Casting). The production stage manager is David M. Beris.
