Casting has been announced for Miscast 2013, the newest installment of MCC Theater’s popular gala event which pairs Broadway’s stars with songs and gender-bending roles you’d never see them play elsewhere (ever). The one-night-only event will take place March 4, 2013, at The Hammerstein Ballroom. Ticket sales benefit MCC’s educational programming and theatrical season.

The event will also honor Tony Award winner and longtime board trotter Judith Light (Other Desert Cities), a veteran of MCC productions like Colder Than Here and Wit.

Hosted by Tony Award nominee Victor Garber (Damn Yankees), this year’s miscast cast list includes Tony Award winner Christian Borle (Smash, Peter and the Starcatcher), Jonathan Groff (Spring Awakening), Megan Hilty (Smash, 9 to 5), Cheyenne Jackson (30 Rock, Finian’s Rainbow), Jeremy Jordan (Newsies), Tony Award winner Jane Krakowski (30 Rock, Nine), LaChanze (The Color Purple), Marin Mazzie (Kiss Me, Kate, MCC’s recent Carrie), Jason Danieley (Next to Normal), Patrick Wilson (The Full Monty), Jesse L. Martin (Rent, Law & Order) and Nicole Parker (Wicked).

Previous Miscast performances have included Groff singing the entire eight-minute title song from Anything Goes with full revival choreography, The Book of Mormon star Josh Gad serenading Rory O’Malley with Wickeds “For Good,” Tony Award winner Sutton Foster (Anything Goes) belting out “Maria” from West Side Story, and Tony Award winner Montego Glover (Memphis) taking on Fiddler on the Roofs “If I Were a Rich Man.” (Though that last one wasn’t nearly the gender jump it was before pop starlet Gwen Stefani turned it into a hit reggeton radio single for party girls.)
