Shawn Elliott, Linda Larkin, Begonya Plaza Set for Teresa’s Ecstasy at Cherry Lane

Cherry Lane Theatre is set to present the world premiere of Begonya Plaza’s Teresa’s Ecstasy, March 4-April 1. Will Pomerantz will direct.

Carlotta’s return to Barcelona has two purposes. It’s a stopover on the way to Avila, where she is researching an article on St. Teresa, and it’s also to serve her husband Andres with divorce papers. Featuring original music by Catalan composer Albert Carbonell, Teresa’s Ecstasy is a sexually charged look at politics, religion, and love.

Plaza will star as Carlotta, with the cast also including Shawn Elliott (Andres) and Linda Larkin (Becky).

The design team will be comprised of Adrian W. Jones (set design), Scott Clyve (lighting design), Suzanne Chesney (costume design), and Jane Shaw (sound design).
