Meryl Streep Named Best Actress by Broadcast Critics Circle

The Broadcast Critics Circle has named Meryl Streep as Best Actress for her performance as chef Julia Child in Nora Ephron’s Julie & Julia, an honor she shared with Sandra Bullock for her performance in The Blind Side. The awards were broadcast live on VH1 and hosted by Kristin Chenoweth.

Streep has already been named Best Actress by the Boston Society of Film Critics, the New York Film Critics Circle, the Phoenix Film Critics Society, and the San Francisco Film Critics Circle. She has also been nominated for the Golden Globe and SAG Award for her work in the film.

Streep’s stage credits include Trelawny of the Wells, Secret Service, The Cherry Orchard, Happy End, The Seagull, and Mother Courage and Her Children.She is a two-time Oscar winner for Kramer Vs. Kramer and Sophie’s Choice, In addition, she won the Emmy Award for HBO’s film version of Tony Kushner’s Angels in America.
