Heidi Schreck to Be Page 73’s 2009 Playwriting Fellow

Page 73 has announced that Heidi Schreck is the recipient of the 2008 P73 Playwriting Fellowship, and during 2009 will use it to work on a new play inspired by her own experience as a reporter in Siberia and St. Petersburg.

This annual award was begun in 2003, and designed to honor an early-career playwright who has not received wide public recognition or production opportunities in New York City. The award also comes with a cash prize of $5,000. Past recipients include Kirsten Greenidge, Quiara Alegría Hudes, Jason Grote, Krista Knight, and Tommy Smith.

Schreck’s plays include Creature, Backwards into China, Stray, Mister Universe, Memorial Day, and Spirit Lake.
