Mitchell, Morris, Upshaw, et al. Set for Lincoln Center’s Great Performers

Lincoln Center will present the U.S. premiere of the National Theatre of Great Britain’s production of Katie Mitchell’s Waves, based on the novel by Virginia Woolf, as part of its 2008-2009 Great Performers series. The production will be seen November 12-22 at the Duke on 42nd Street.

Waves is part of a series called New Visions: The Literary Muse, which will also feature Don Quijote de la Mancha: Romances Y Musicas, directed by Jordi Savall, at the Rose Theatre on October 20; Peter Sellars’ Kafka Fragments, starring Dawn Upshaw, November 12-14 at John Jay College, and the Mark Morris Dance Group’s Romeo & Juliet, On Motifs of Shakespeare, May 15-16.

The Great Performers season will also include The Joy of Music: Leonard Bernstein on Film, an 11-part series to begin on October 15; a recital by violin virtuoso Joshua Bell, February 8 at Avery Fisher Hall; the New York premiere of Rob Kapilow’s Jabberwocky, April 25 at Avery Fisher Hall; and the Silk Road Ensemble with cellist Yo-Yo Ma, June 5-6 at Avery Fisher Hall.
