Paul Vogt and Jere Burns will respectively take over the roles of Edna and Wilbur Turnblad in the long-running Broadway production of Hairspray on Tuesday, January 30. They will replace Blake Hammond and Stephen DeRosa.

Vogt, who starred for several seasons on the hit television series Mad TV, performed the role of Edna at the North Shore Music Theatre in Boston and replaced Harvey Fierstein in the show's Las Vegas production. His regional theater credits include Assassins, Much Ado About Nothing, Hamlet, and Greater Tuna.

Burns most recently appeared on Broadway in After the Night and the Music; his other stage credits include Don Juan, Egyptology, and True West. He is best known for his portrayal of Kirk Morris on the hit TV series Dear John, and he was also a series regular on Max Headroom, Good Morning Miami, and Help Me Help You.

Based on the hit film by John Waters, Hairspray has music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Whitman, and a book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan. The show is directed by Jack O'Brien and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell. It currently stars Shannon Durig as Tracy, Ashley Parker Angel as Link, Diane DeGarmo as Penny, and Darlene Love as Motormouth Maybelle.
