Liz McCartney and Jim Walton will star in the George Street Playhouse’s production of Stephen Temperley’s Souvenir, to run February 27-March 25 in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The production, to be directed by Anders Cato, will open officially on March 2.

The play, which is considered a “fantasia,” focuses on Florence Foster Jenkins, the New York socialite who became famous for her singing recitals despite the fact that she had a horrible singing voice, and her relationship with pianist Cosme McMoon. The show was produced at the York Theatre Company in New York before moving to Broadway in November 2005; Tony Award winner Judy Kaye played Jenkins in those productions.

McCartney’s Broadway credits include Taboo, Mamma Mia!, Dance of the Vampires, and Thoroughly Modern Millie. She appeared Off-Broadway in Bingo and previously appeared at George Street in Songs for a New World.

Walton’s Broadway credits include Merrily We Roll Along, The Music Man, Sweeney Todd, and 42nd Street. He received an Outer Critics Circle Award for being part of the ensemble of the Off-Broadway revue And The World Goes ‘Round.
